The application process for our 2024 Spring Academy closed on 1/31/2024.

We are currently accepting applications for the positions of Volunteer Firefighter (certified/lateral), EMS Volunteer, and Operations Support Volunteer only.

Individuals interested in applying are strongly encouraged to review the position description for detailed information on the specific duties, physical requirements, and optional activities.

A timeline of important dates and events is listed below. Applicants should note these dates to avoid potential calendar conflicts.

Today 1/31/2024 Application period open. Your application (only) must be received at our Administration Offices by 12 p.m. If you mail your application, you should do so at least a week prior. 2/5/24 2/9/24 Panel reviews applications received. Applications will be reviewed to ensure they are complete and notarized. Applicants moving forward will be contacted by phone during this time to schedule panel interviews. If you are unavailable to receive phone calls, ensure that a voice mail message can be left at the phone number you provided on your application.
2/19/24 2/23/24 Panel Interviews with Applicants. Applicants chosen to move forward will be notified following the panel interview. Applicants moving forward are strongly encouraged to begin filling out the Statement of Personal History document available below.

 Physical Ability Testing. Depending on the number of Applicants, testing may need to continue on a second day. Upon passing your Physical Ability Test, your Statement of Personal History is due now.
3/6/24 3/29/24 Reference checks, driving history and background investigation is ongoing. Towards the end of the background investigation process you will be contacted to schedule an occupational health exam with our medical provider at our expense.

 In Person Orientation starts at 8 a.m. Plan on spending the majority of the day with us to learn who we are, what we do and how we do it. You will be introduced to many of the electronic systems we use in addition to what your training path and development plan will be for the summer.

 First Tuesday night drill and on-board training. Many drills are formally scheduled on Tuesday evenings. Smaller groups and individual shift crews schedule additional training during other evenings and weekends as needed and as instructors are available.

 Volunteer Foundation Meeting. Attend the Volunteer Foundation meeting and enjoy a light dinner while meeting all the other Volunteer Foundation Members.
TBD NFPA Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Class. Attend the 1 day in person classroom presentation on this day -or-  Complete the online course utilizing the recorded lecture and study guides. Then, pass the online test and complete the skills practical’s.
TBD NFPA Mobile Water Supply Apparatus Class. Attend the 1 day in person classroom presentation on this day -or-  Complete the online course utilizing the recorded lecture and study guides. Then, pass the online test and complete the skills practical’s.
TBD Emergency Medical Responder course and licensing. This or another EMS course must be completed within 1 year if you are not already Oregon EMS licensed. You may optionally enroll in an approved EMT course with financial assistance from us following your first completed quarterly activity but must still acquire your Oregon license within a calendar year from your appointment. Not all EMS classes are offered every quarter at all training locations.
