Turner Fire District Burn to Learn

Crews began setting up and prepping the house at about 3:00pm with the first fire being lit at approximately 7:20pm. Crews spent the first hour and a half setting fires, taking crews inside to observe fire and smoke conditions and then were instructed on proper suppression techniques. Fire attack crews continued to rotate in and out of the structure until fire command officials determined that structure was no longer safe enough to practice in. At that point a complete sweep of the structure was made to ensure everyone was out and accounted for. Smoke and flames began to grow resulting in 100% involvement of the structure as it began to collapse. Fire and smoke conditions were monitored by crews stationed around the exterior of the structure. Fire hoses were used as needed to either push smoke up into the air or to reduce the heat coming from the burning building as there were other structures and power lines nearby. There were no injuries sustained during this training event.

This opportunity was made available by the generous donation from Craig Spainhower for which we are very thankful.
